As a chairman of the local Covid Committees of 19 South Shillong Constituency, BJP MLA Shri Sanbor Shullai held a meeting on Tuesday dated15.06.2021 at the Laban Assam Club as per the notification No.DDMA/EKH/119/2020/VOL.III/3 dated 28th August 2020. The meeting was attended by Incident Commander of Zone 2, Kum. H.M.L Kynta, MCS, Incident Commander of Zone 4, Smti B. Ranee, MCS, Senior Medical and Health Officer Dr L. Rynjah, Medical Officer In-Charge of Bishnupur UPHC Dr H kharshiing, Executive Magistrate of Laban and Bishnupur area, In-Charge Laban P.S Insp. M.R. Marak, S.I L.D Sangma Incharge Kench’s Trace Bishnipur, S.I W. Nongneng In-Charge Jhalupara outpost Shillong, Rangbah Shnong, Headman, President and Secretary of Covid-19 Community Management Team. The meeting was conducted with an aim to discuss and implement measures to help ease people’s difficulties, livelihood issues, spread of correct information and awareness, reducing fear, avoiding chaotic situations, lowering stigma across all sections of society and in doing so keeping the safety of all citizens as top priority. During the meeting financial assistance of Rupees 5 lakhs has been distributed to 14 local Covid Committee, Dorbar Shnong and Welfare Committees of 19 South Shillong Constituency. The financial assistance has been borne out of the MLA’s salary. The MLA has gone a step further by deciding to provide financial assistance to BPL families, which includes taxi drivers, teer counter employees, handicapped people and various other daily wage earners who were hit hard by the lockdown. The MLA also said that his office has been open every day for the people since the beginning of lockdown and that he has been providing financial and other necessary services in form of ambulance or mortuary vans to the affected families free of cost. These services will be continued to be provided through the respective Dorbar Shnongs and CCMT. Besides these he will further assists organizations and individuals who are helping in providing essentials and covid relief materials in their respective localities. Other than them, frontline workers and service providers such as ASHA and Anganwadi workers, municipal and cantonment field staff, mortuary and ambulance ferrying team among others shall be provided with financial aid as a support for their selfless services. The meeting concluded with all the Covid Committees representatives thanking the initiatives and the sincere efforts of the MLA in addressing the ground reality and practical issues faced by the citizens.
