SHILLONG, MAR 20: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has assured that the state will maintain strict security and peaceful conditions along the interstate border during the upcoming elections in Assam.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Tynsong stated that the government is fully prepared to ensure the safety of residents living in border areas. He emphasized that security arrangements have been strengthened and that the situation will remain under control throughout the election period.
“Security will be okay. We will make sure that people of our state are safe, are peaceful and security will always be there,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also expressed confidence that authorities on the Assam side would take similar measures to maintain peace and stability across the border.
To ensure smooth coordination, the Meghalaya government has already directed all Deputy Commissioners to stay in close contact with their counterparts in bordering districts. This coordinated effort is aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and ensuring a peaceful electoral process in the region.
Officials believe that such proactive steps will help maintain law and order while strengthening cooperation between the two neighboring states during the sensitive election period.
