SHILLONG : The Meghalaya Government is set to begin the recruitment process for more than 700 vacant teacher posts in government lower primary schools, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Friday.
Rymbui said the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET), held on Friday, was part of the groundwork for the upcoming recruitment drive.
“We have 700 plus teacher vacancies only in government lower primary schools. The recruitment will be out very soon,” the Education Minister told reporters.
The minister also highlighted vacancies in aided educational institutions across the state, where recruitment has reportedly remained pending for several years due to delays in obtaining the necessary approvals.
“There are also some vacancies in the aided schools in which recruitment has not happened for the last few years. We will give permission on a case-to-case basis so recruitment will start in a few months’ time,” Rymbui said.
The upcoming recruitment is expected to provide an opportunity for eligible candidates seeking teaching positions in Meghalaya’s government lower primary schools.
The government is also expected to begin processing recruitment in aided schools once the required approvals are granted on a case-to-case basis.
