SHILLONG : The Meghalaya Nursing Council (MNC), in collaboration with the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project (MHSSP), on Monday launched the “Continued Nursing Education (CNE) through Clinical Vignettes for Nursing Staff of the State” during a meeting attended by principals, vice principals and nursing superintendents from government and private hospitals and nursing institutions across Meghalaya.
The programme marked the official launch of an online Healthcare Learning System (HLS), aimed at strengthening continuous in-service education and improving the clinical competency of nursing professionals in the state.
The digital learning platform uses structured clinical case scenarios, known as clinical vignettes, which are specially designed to address the healthcare needs of Meghalaya. The initiative seeks to promote continuous professional development through technology-enabled learning and practical case-based education.
The Healthcare Learning System has been aligned with national healthcare guidelines covering maternal and child health, communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases. It also incorporates treatment protocols based on the Essential Drugs List of Meghalaya.
Senior nursing faculty members from across the state are contributing to the development of the clinical vignettes to ensure the learning content remains relevant, practical and suited to local healthcare challenges.
Assistant Director of Nursing-cum-Registrar of Meghalaya Nursing Council, Ms Grace Perry Sunn, welcomed the participants during the programme. An orientation session was conducted by Dr Anindita Bhowmik, Consultant, MHSSP, while the Healthcare Learning System was presented by Mr Byron Phira, General Manager, MHSSP.
The launch programme was anchored by Ms Adorinia Nongrum and Mr Ador Thangkhiew from MHSSP and chaired by the Principal of the School of Nursing, Civil Hospital Shillong.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by Ms Ivory Kharduit, Deputy Director of Nursing, Meghalaya Nursing Council.
Officials said the initiative is expected to enhance professional development opportunities for nursing personnel across Meghalaya and encourage continuous learning through modern digital healthcare education systems.
