SHILLONG : Shillong Commerce College will organise a 10-km run on August 17, 2026, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, with the event aimed at promoting health, education and youth empowerment.
The college announced the event on August 7 at the Shillong Press Club. The 10-km run will be held under the broader theme of “A Generation or Era of Knowledge and Education, Empowering the Future”, as part of the college’s 60-year journey since its establishment in 1967.
Speaking to the media, college faculty members Bah Pynjopthiaw Nongrum and Bah Michel M Kharkongor said the run would focus on themes including mental and physical well-being, as well as youth empowerment and awakening young minds.
The organisers said the event is intended not only to promote physical fitness but also to encourage young people to develop a positive and empowered mindset.
The 10-km run will begin from Shillong Commerce College and pass through Laitumkrah, Fire Brigade, Dhanketi and the area near Anjalee Cinema, before returning to the college premises, where the run will conclude.
The event is expected to bring together students, young people and members of the public as part of the college’s year-long 60th anniversary celebrations.
