NONGPOH: Three people sustained injuries after a Maruti Swift car crashed into a roadside shop along National Highway-6 at Umdihar in Ri-Bhoi district on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 12 noon when the Swift car bearing registration number AS 01 GQ 2040 was travelling from Shillong towards Guwahati. Upon reaching Umdihar, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and ram into a shop located beside the highway.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the shop and injured three youths who were having their meal inside at the time of the incident.
Local residents and passersby immediately rushed to the spot and assisted the victims. The injured persons were later shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
