UMRAN DAIRY : A house at Umran Dairy was completely gutted in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving household belongings destroyed, while a 21-year-old man narrowly escaped unharmed.
According to information gathered, the fire broke out at around 4 am, when the flames suddenly began spreading through the house.
At the time, the 21-year-old son of the homeowner was asleep inside the house. He woke up after noticing the fire had intensified and immediately escaped by jumping through a window, thereby avoiding injury.
The house belongs to Bijenti Basaiawmoit. The intense fire destroyed household items and other belongings inside the house, reducing them to ashes.
Neighbours who noticed the incident rushed to help and alerted the police. However, the intensity of the flames made it difficult for them to bring the fire under control.
Police personnel from Umsning Police Station, along with firefighters from the Fire and Emergency Services, subsequently reached the spot and worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established. A suspected electrical fault is being considered, but this has not been officially confirmed.
An investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of the fire and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
