RI-BHOI: The Umsning Block Headman Forum, comprising headmen from villages under Umsning Block, inspected the Umsning Community Health Centre (CHC) on Friday and held discussions with the Doctor-in-Charge regarding shortcomings and difficulties faced by the public in accessing healthcare services at the facility.
The inspection was led by Forum President Bah Frankie Nongrum, who is also the Rangbah Shnong of Umsaitsning Lad Mawrong, along with Adviser Bah Marchal Nongshli, Rangbah Shnong of Nongthymmai, and other members of the Forum.
During the visit, the Forum expressed concern over the continued absence of a Male Ward at Umsning CHC, stating that the facility has remained without a dedicated ward for male patients for more than 10 years.
The Forum also urged the concerned authorities to expedite the filling of vacant posts at the health centre, particularly technician posts, as the shortage of staff has been affecting the functioning and delivery of healthcare services at the CHC.
The Forum further called for the early implementation of a one-way traffic system around the CHC premises to ease traffic movement and congestion, particularly for ambulances transporting patients.
In addition, the Forum urged the Public Works Department (PWD) to improve the drainage system in the area. It said inadequate drainage has contributed to water-related damage to the road near the health centre, creating further difficulties for commuters and patients.
The Forum said addressing these issues would help improve healthcare delivery and make access to the CHC more convenient and efficient for residents of the Umsning Block and surrounding areas.
