RI-BHOI : The Village Defence Party (VDP) of Quinine Nongladew in Ri-Bhoi District has issued a strong warning to visitors frequenting the Umran River area, urging them not to engage in activities that could disturb public peace and the environment.
Under the leadership of President Bah Lansius Syiemlieh, members of the VDP conducted an inspection of the Umran River stretch that falls within the shnong’s jurisdiction earlier today.
During the inspection, the VDP made it clear that while visitors are welcome to enjoy the scenic area, they must refrain from irresponsible behavior. The organization warned against littering, particularly the dumping of liquor bottles and other waste materials along the riverbanks, stating that such actions pollute the environment and pose risks to the local community.
The warning comes after the VDP observed that certain individuals have been using the area as a picnic and hangout spot, allegedly engaging in unruly behavior, including the use of abusive language and activities that disrupt the peace and harmony of the shnong.
The VDP emphasized that maintaining cleanliness and public order is essential to preserving the natural beauty of the Umran River and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
Authorities have cautioned that strict action may be taken against those found violating community norms and disturbing the tranquility of the area.
