Nongthymmai Village, RiBhoi: A resounding call to action echoed through the serene surroundings of Nongthymmai Village as the RiBhoi Area Welfare Association (RAWA), in collaboration with the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, orchestrated an enlightening awareness camp. The event was presided over by Smt. Balakyntiew Umbah, President of RAWA, who provided a guiding hand throughout the program.
The focal point of the day was an insightful discourse on HIV/AIDS, its significance, and the necessity of testing, hosted by Miss Daphilia Gretia Thangkhiew, an ICTC Counsellor Umsning CHC Her comprehensive talk shed light on the importance of early detection and dispelled myths surrounding the virus. The audience’s attention was riveted as she passionately elaborated on the elimination of mother-to-child transmission.
Miss Medalin Lyngdoh, an Outreach Worker (ORW) from AHANNA, took the stage next to address the issue of stigma and discrimination that often haunts those living with HIV/AIDS. Her powerful narrative aimed to combat these societal injustices, urging the community to stand united and abolish such prejudices.
