RI-BHOI : A widespread power outage struck Ri-Bhoi District, affecting 147 villages and leaving thousands of residents, businesses, and institutions without electricity. The disruption was confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, following inspections along with officers and Block Development Officers (BDOs) from various blocks.
According to the DC, reports from BDOs indicate that up to 147 villages experienced power cuts this morning. Thousands of residents have been left without electricity while district authorities are coordinating with the electricity department to restore supply as quickly as possible.
The outage was caused by disruptions to major power lines, including the 132 KV lines at Byrnihat and Umïam, and the 33 KV line at Nongpoh. Residents continue to live without power, and officials have instructed the electricity department to urgently repair the damaged lines to restore electricity to affected areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to residents affected by the outage to remain patient and requested them to report any issues directly to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for immediate assistance.
