Shillong : Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP national president Conrad K. Sangma has clarified that the inclusion of Agatha Sangma in the list of star campaigners was a mistake.
Speaking to media persons, Sangma said that the party has already written to the Election Commission requesting the removal of her name from the list.
He explained that Agatha Sangma, who is currently serving as the chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, had earlier informed him that she would not participate in election campaigning, considering it inappropriate given her position.
Sangma stated that the error occurred due to a communication gap within the party’s campaign team, which led to her name being included as she is a senior leader of the party.
He further assured that corrective measures have been taken and the matter has been officially communicated to the Election Commission to ensure her name is removed from the list of star campaigners.
