101 Area, First in Dhaka, celebrated 74th Army Day on 15 Jan 2022. To commemorate the occasion, wreath was laid at Prerna Sthal, Shillong to pay homage to Bravehearts who laid down their lives to protect the country and its citizens.
Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year in recognition of Field Marshal KM Cariappa’s (then a Lieutenant General) taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Fransis Bucher , the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.
