SHILLONG: Three people were injured after a house was hit by a landslide at Chota Tandu, 13th Mile, Assam Site, on Saturday morning.
According to information available, the incident occurred at around 7:30 AM when the family members were still asleep following heavy rainfall in the area.
A hill located behind the house reportedly gave way suddenly, causing a large amount of earth to slide onto the house. The impact damaged the boundary wall, while the kitchen was completely destroyed after being buried under the debris.
Fortunately, the people inside the house managed to escape, although three members sustained injuries in the incident.
The injured have been identified as Chandra Marak (35), Sunita Sangma (25), and Riknosha Sangma (7). They were immediately shifted to ARHI Hospital for medical treatment.
The landslide has also caused significant damage to the family’s property. Further details regarding the extent of the damage and the condition of the injured are awaited.
