Shillong, Jan — Lumparing scripted history by lifting their first-ever Shillong Sports Association (SSA) Women’s Football League 2025 title after defeating defending champions Laitkor 3–1 in the final at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Sunday.
Teen sensation Pynhun Shulet was the star of the match, scoring a brilliant hat-trick (18’, 25’, 60’) to seal the maiden title for Lumparing. Tracy Rympei (22’) scored the lone goal for Laitkor, who failed to defend their crown from the 2024 season.
Lumparing took the lead in the 18th minute when Pynhun headed home from a corner. Laitkor responded quickly as Tracy struck a stunning long-range effort from the right to restore parity just four minutes later. However, the equaliser was short-lived as Pynhun capitalised on a defensive error to score from close range, giving Lumparing a 2–1 advantage before half-time.
The second half saw Lumparing continue their dominance. Pynhun earned a penalty after being fouled inside the box but missed the spot-kick. She made amends shortly after by completing her hat-trick with a composed finish to make it 3–1.
Despite Laitkor’s determined efforts till the final whistle, they were unable to breach the solid Lumparing defence and goalkeeper Priyanka Latam, who produced a confident performance between the posts.
With this result, Lumparing celebrated a well-deserved maiden Women’s League title, having performed consistently throughout the tournament. The champions received Rs 50,000 in prize money, while runners-up Laitkor took home Rs 25,000. Laitkor have now finished as runners-up in three seasons, underlining their consistency despite missing out on the title once again.
