SHILLONG : In a touching act of community support, the Seng Samla Umden Pyllun on Saturday handed over a newly constructed house to a struggling mother and her four children in Umden Umsaitprah village.
The house was presented to Paleihun Nongneng, who has been living in difficult conditions with her children and lacked the means to build a home of her own.
The initiative, led by the president of the Seng Samla Umden Pyllun, G. Pyrtuh, is being seen as a meaningful act of kindness that not only brought joy to the family but also inspired hope within the community.
The newly built house serves as a major relief for the family, which has been struggling with poverty and hardship. Members of the organisation came together to construct the house as a gesture of solidarity and compassion.
The house was formally handed over on Saturday by former George B. Lyngdoh, MLA of Umroi Constituency, who attended the programme as the chief guest. Albinus Lyngdoh was present as the guest of honour.
The event was also attended by village elders from Umden Umsaitprah, Umden Arka and Mynri Umsning, along with women’s groups and youth organisations from the area.
The emotional moment was marked by the heartfelt words of the mother, who expressed her gratitude saying she had nothing to give in return except her prayers and blessings.
