SHILLONG : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, SPARK – Bringing Light to Lives organized a special programme dedicated to women from remote villages and underprivileged communities, highlighting this year’s theme “Give to Gain.”
The event focused on the importance of supporting and empowering women so that they can actively contribute to building stronger families and communities.
The programme brought together women from various rural and slum areas who often face social, economic, and educational challenges. Through this initiative, SPARK aimed to provide knowledge, awareness, protection, and opportunities that help women become more confident and self-reliant.
Over the years, the organization has been actively working with marginalized communities by conducting programmes that focus on education, social awareness, and empowerment. These initiatives are designed to help women develop the skills and confidence needed to improve their lives and build a better future for their families.
During the programme, several discussions and interactive sessions were held to emphasize the importance of education, awareness, and self-confidence among women.
Speaking at the event, Shima Modak, President and Founder of SPARK – Bringing Light to Lives, highlighted that empowering women leads directly to the development of families and the strengthening of society as a whole.
She explained the meaning behind the theme “Give to Gain,” stating that when society invests in women through education, opportunities, and support, it ultimately gains a stronger, safer, and more progressive community.
The event also provided a platform for women to share their experiences, learn from each other, and find motivation to overcome the challenges they face in their daily lives. Various awareness activities encouraged participants to recognize their rights, strengths, and potential.
SPARK continues to play an important role in uplifting women from marginalized sections by equipping them with the knowledge and resources necessary to improve their lives.
The International Women’s Day programme successfully reinforced the message that empowering women means empowering society, and that by providing opportunities and support to women, communities can move towards a more inclusive and progressive future.
The organization also appealed to individuals, organizations, and well-wishers to come forward and extend their support so that such initiatives can continue to benefit underprivileged communities and contribute to building an empowered society.
