Based on the report received from the Block Development Officer, Mawkynrew C&RD Block and the Medical Officer in charge of Jongksha PHC that a COVID-19 positive person was found mingling around Wahshnong hamlet and Nongshiliang Hamlet of Jongksha village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block and has come in contact with a large number of people, without taking any precaution even after being advised to isolate as per the protocols of the Government and in order to facilitate contact tracing, isolation and testing of the high risk contacts, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 3^rd May, 2021 under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 has declared Wahshnong hamlet and Nongshiliang Hamlet of Jongksha village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block as a Containment Zone until the exercise is completed so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.

          The order states that no person are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, all the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their home and all shops, establishments shall remain closed during containment.

The Block Development Officer, Mawkynrew C&D Block shall supervise and monitor strict compliance of the order.

           Any violation of the order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and IPC.
