SHILLONG : Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has credited the improved performance of students in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2026 to the state government’s continued focus on strengthening the education sector.
Speaking to reporters, Rymbui said the results clearly reflect the progress made, noting that only around 6,000 students did not pass out of the total number who appeared for the examination.
Encouraging those who were unsuccessful, the Minister urged students to take advantage of the upcoming supplementary examinations scheduled for May. “There is always a second chance. I encourage students who didn’t make it to utilize this opportunity,” he said.
Rymbui also highlighted that students from across different regions, including rural areas, performed well this year, indicating overall improvement in the education system.
“This speaks volumes about the collective efforts of schools and the government to enhance the quality of education,” he added.
The Minister credited various initiatives introduced by the government since 2018, including the distribution of help books and targeted interventions aimed at improving learning outcomes.
“Since 2018, we have prioritized education by addressing key challenges and working towards transforming the system for the benefit of students,” Rymbui said.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he added, “We will continue to identify gaps and work towards ensuring that our students receive the best possible education.”
