Shillong: Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) HSSLC 2026 Arts topper Meghashree Roy from St Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, has credited her success to consistent study and reliance on school textbooks rather than external guides.
Roy, who secured 457 marks, said the result came as a surprise. She expressed both shock and happiness at achieving the top position, stating that she had not expected to rank first.
Highlighting her study approach, she emphasized that students do not need extra books or coaching materials. According to her, focusing on school-prescribed textbooks and maintaining consistency is enough to achieve high scores.
She described the examination as manageable with proper preparation, noting that while some questions were challenging, overall the papers were fair and scoring.
Looking ahead, Roy aims to pursue higher studies through CUET and study political science, with the ultimate goal of cracking civil services examinations. She is already preparing through general knowledge and interview-based learning to strengthen her foundation.
Principal Sonai Chacko said the school’s achievement reflects consistency, discipline, and the collective effort of both teachers and students. She stressed that success is not only about top ranks but about recognizing every student’s effort and growth.
Chacko added that the results reflect the institution’s vision of nurturing confident, value-oriented individuals, and encouraged students to stay focused, work consistently, and believe in their abilities.
She also reminded students that true success goes beyond marks, highlighting the importance of integrity, compassion, and responsibility in shaping a meaningful future
