SHILLONG : The Advocacy Reform Movement (ARM), led by its president Bah Burom Dkhar along with members of its Central Executive Committee, met the Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Jaintia Hills to submit three key demands concerning public safety, rights and law enforcement.
During the meeting, the organisation urged the police department to deploy traffic personnel at every Police Outpost in East Jaintia Hills to improve traffic management and ensure greater public safety.
The ARM also demanded that the rights of citizens be protected without discrimination, in accordance with Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India, which guarantee equality before the law and protection of life and personal liberty.
The organisation further called for stronger enforcement of laws against those involved in killings, stressing the need for effective action to ensure justice and public safety.
Responding to the demands, the East Jaintia Hills SP assured the ARM that he would discuss the matter with the Home Department within a month and explore possible measures to address the organisation’s demands.
The ARM said it would continue to pursue the issues raised with the authorities and seek concrete action on the demands submitted.
