Today the 24th of October 2022, SPARK observed the National Girl Child Day along with the whole of the Country upholding the rights of girl children with strong commitment towards their protection, development and empowerment.

Special sessions were conducted on the importance of “Girl Child” .From going to School to helping in household work, to working in the factories, caring for the elders and younger family members and finally preparing themselves to take on the responsibilities of adulthood, they excel in every field. Hence, there is no denial to the fact that girls play important and multiple roles in the household, society and the economy as well.

However, the girl children have always got a raw deal made worse by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It is very much needed to work to ensure that they get every opportunity to realize their potential.

The Founder and President of SPARK , Ms. Shima Modak visited more than 50 families meeting the parents and community people with an objective of creating awareness on the importance of girls’ education, their health, their nutrition and also to  uphold and promote the position of girl children in the society. And finally to increase awareness on the rights of girl children and  aim at removing gender biases.

The said programme was organized at all the centres of SPARK, namely Pongkung Village, Mawlong Village, Mawlynrei Village, Rangmen Village and Bara Bazaar Slum, taking a pledge to empower girl children ensuring their protection, development and leading every Girl Child towards achieving greater heights to fulfill their dreams.
