As part of the Observation of the International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking 2023, the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong in collaboration with Manbha Foundation and Kripa Foundation, Shillong organized an Awareness Cum Sensitization programme on the “Ill Effects of Substance Abuse & Behavioral Change” for the jail inmates on the 24th June, 2023 at Shillong District Jail, Jail Road, Police Bazaar, Shillong.
At the outset, A welcome speech was shared by the Superintendent, District Prison & Correctional Home, East Khasi Hills District followed by the Introductory speech from Smt.N. Umdor District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills, District Shillong who shared some information regarding the campaign i.e., the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. During the session Shri.S.Marbaniang, Counsellor, New Life De-addiction Centre, KJP Synod Sepngi, Urban Mission spoke about basic of drug and process of social re-integration followed by the speech from Shri.Keshab Lamsal, Counsellor from Kripa Foundation (ODIC), Shillong who spoke at length on the ill effects of substance abuse and behavioral change and further a speech from Smti.S.Phanwar, Representative from Manbha Foundation, Shillong also were delivered.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Smti.C.Malngiang, Legal Cum Probation Officer, O/o the District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.
