On 22 Aug’ 2023, acting on specific tip-off, alert troops of 43 Bn BSF Meghalaya in a joint ops with Meghalaya police nabbed 02 persons along with a vehicle carrying 3000 Kgs of sugar meant for smuggling to Bangladesh through International border of South Garo Hills. The vehicle was heading towards the International border area when intercepted by BSF and Baghmara police.

During a preliminary enquiry, both apprehended individuals revealed that they are residents of Baghmara, from where they had loaded sugar into the Bolero Pickup. The arrested Indian smugglers and the seized items were handed over to the Bhaghmara Police Station for further action.
