In a joint operation, the East Khasi Hills Anti-Narcotics Task Force (EKH ANTF), in coordination with Mawryngkneng Police Station, successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting contraband from Shillong to Mizoram.
The vehicle, a Tata Yodha bearing registration number MZ01/Z 3654, was stopped during the operation, leading to the detention of three individuals:
- Smti. Sabina Lalnunmawiii (23 years), a resident of Zokhawthar, Champhai, Mizoram.
- Shri Lalrinmawia Chenkua (19 years), a resident of Dapchhuah, Mizoram.
- Shri Lalrosanga (28 years), a resident of Edenthar, Tlangnuam, Aizawl, Mizoram.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers recovered and seized the following items:
- Two mobile phones.
- One driving licence.
- A green sofa set, which was used to conceal the contraband.
- The Tata Yodha vehicle (B/R No. MZ01Z/3654).
- 10.455 kg of ganja.
- 235 bottles of alcohol (750 ml each).
Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Mawryngkneng Police Station under Case No. 3(2)25, invoking sections 20b(ii)(b)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities have initiated further investigations to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband.
