It is truly a heartbreaking report for two auto-rickshaw owners following the suspected malicious act by unidentified miscreants who set fire to two auto-rickshaws parked at their garage in Mawtnum, Ri-Bhoi District.
According to information received from the owner, the incident occurred today around 1 a.m., where one auto-rickshaw was completely burnt down and the other was partially damaged.
The auto-rickshaw that was completely destroyed bore the registration number ML 10 D 0651 and belonged to Bah Roboatson Marweiñ, while the partially damaged one had the number ML 10 D 3492 and belonged to Bah Xavier Thabah. Both vehicles were parked at the same location.
Bah Roboatson Marweiñ, the owner of the burnt auto-rickshaw, stated that this was clearly a deliberate act of mischief by heartless miscreants. He said the vehicle was his only source of income to support his family and had been bought on loan, with about one year of repayment still remaining.
In response to the incident, the Auto Drivers’ Association of the Saiden Unit, through its President Bah Ricky Lyngdoh, strongly condemned the act and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the culprits to justice.
