With an effort to promote Skills Development and as part of creating awareness among people on the importance of skill training programme, the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) in collaboration with the District Skill Committee, Eastern West Khasi Hills District today the 29th August inaugurated the Skills Meghalaya Training Programme for the year 2025 – 2026 at Multipurpose Hall DC’s office, Mairang where the Deputy Commissioner Smti A. Kharpor IAS marked the inauguration by cutting a ribbon in the presence of Shri A.Nongbri ADC, Shri M.Diengdoh, ADC, Shri W. Massar, BDO of Mawthadraishan Block, Shri S.L Nonglait District Skills Development Officer and other invitees.The inaugural function was attended by officers from different line departments, the Training Providers from different centres including Gracy & Co institute of Information Technology Society, BasandarsonLuthiery, Dawn, El Elyon Institute, Rose CSC and Northeast institute of professional studies.The event was also participated by large number of trainees under the Skill Development Schemes.The Deputy Commissioner SmtiA.Kharpor IAS in her speech as the chief guest lauded the initiatives taken by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society in collaboration with various training providers of the district in conducting the programme for the benefit of residents of the district. She highlighted on the importance of skill development in transforming the lives of the state’s youth. She said that skill training program has been an inspiration for unemployed youth, bringing about a chang in their lives. It provides an opportunity for individuals with special talents to showcase themselves through self-employment.Additionally, she expressed gratitude to the training providers for their dedication and hard work in empowering others. The Deputy Commissioner also urged trainees to take this advantage of the training to stand on their own feet and increase their income. She emphasized the government’s initiative focusing on encouraging self-employment and entrepreneurship rather than solely relying on government job.Moreover, she encouraged trainees to share their experiences with their friends, relatives and cooperate with the government official and training providers to be able to achieve a goal of increasing income generation.The inaugural function was also entertained with song performed by the members of ka Shlem ai Jinghikai.
