Shillong : Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), one of India’s leading test preparation institutes, has inaugurated its first coaching centre in Meghalaya at Shillong while also signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Rifles to provide scholarships, fee concessions and academic support to personnel and their families across the country.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Shillong.
The new Aakash centre is located at Holding No. 383, Don Bosco Square, Upland Road, Opposite St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Nongkynrih, Laitumkhrah. Spread across 7,000 square feet, the facility has six classrooms with a capacity to accommodate more than 300 students.
With the launch of the Shillong centre, students from Meghalaya preparing for NEET, IIT-JEE and other engineering and medical entrance examinations can now access Aakash’s coaching programmes without having to relocate to other cities.
AESL now operates 10 coaching centres across the North-East, including centres in Shillong, Agartala, Dimapur, Imphal, Guwahati, Kamrup, Nagaon, Silchar, Jorhat and Dibrugarh.
In addition to expanding its educational network, AESL signed a long-term partnership with the Assam Rifles to establish a structured academic welfare programme for serving personnel and their families.
Under the agreement, beneficiaries will receive scholarships, fee concessions, dedicated academic mentoring, career guidance programmes, query resolution support and fee protection for students transferred within the North-East Region.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandra Sekhar Garissa Reddy, Managing Director and CEO of Aakash Educational Services Limited, said the opening of the Shillong centre marks an important step towards making quality coaching more accessible to students in Meghalaya.
He added that the partnership with Assam Rifles reflects AESL’s commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of defence families by providing quality academic opportunities closer to home.
