NONGPOH : The BJP Ri-Bhoi District has announced that it will organise a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ along with the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme on August 14, ahead of India’s Independence Day celebrations.
The programme is being organised to honour the national flag and promote a spirit of patriotism and national unity among the people ahead of Independence Day.
According to the party, the rally will begin at 10 am from the BJP office at Downgate, Nongpoh, and proceed towards Pahamsyiem playground.
A major highlight of the rally will be the carrying of a 150-foot-long Indian national flag, which the party said will symbolise unity and respect for the nation.
Speaking to the media, BJP Ri-Bhoi Secretary Silenstar Ranee said the party has made preparations for the rally and invited people from all sections of society, including children, youths and elders, to participate.
He said the rally is intended to demonstrate respect for the national flag and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the people ahead of Independence Day.
State BJP leaders, along with leaders of the BJP Ri-Bhoi District, are also expected to participate in and witness the programme on August 14.
