Alert troops of 04 Bn BSF Meghalaya rescued 17 cattle from the International border of West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya on 19th January 2023, which were meant for smuggling to Bangladesh.
The seized cattle were found tethered in the bushes very close to International Boundary when impounded by BSF troops of border outpost Rongtilla. Smugglers often hide cattle in the forest area and try to cross them through unfenced patches on getting the opportunity.
BSF has seized 3481 cattle in 2022 on international border and continuing its efforts to make border crime and smuggling free.
