Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Statehood of Meghalaya, the Department of Political Science and Department of Sociology, Shillong College Organised a Panel discussion on the theme ‘Higher Education in post Pandemic world: Challenges in the New Normal’ on the 22nd November 2021 in the Shillong College Principal’s Conference room. The main objective of the Panel discussion was to understand the impact of Covid 19 on teaching, learning and service functions of Higher education and to conceptualise the ‘New Normal’ in post Covid 19 scenario. The experts reiterated the importance of Technology and the role of the State in the ‘New Normal’ in the light of past developments in higher education. The distinguished Panelists for the discussion included Professor S.M.Sungoh, an eminent educationist of the State of Meghalaya and Professor from the Department of Education, NEHU; Dr Jasmine Mary Lyngdoh, Consultant Clinical Psychologist with 30 Years experience; Smt Ibanylla Wariri, Principal, Meghalaya Police Public School; Dr. E.W. Mawkhiew, Deputy Director DHTE, Government of Meghalaya; and the Moderator of the Panel discussion, Dr Batskhem Myrboh, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Synod College.
During the discourse, issues and challenges pertaining to the impact of Covid 19 on higher education was discussed. The Panelists had an in-depth discussion on innovative tools and techniques on how to respond and cope with the new challenges in higher education in the ‘New Normal’.
