SHILLONG: The stage is set for an electrifying finale as the Meghalaya State Boxing Championship 2025-26 heads into its fourth and final day at Mawlai Mawroh, with the best young pugilists ready to battle for top honours.
Organised by the Meghalaya Boxing Association with support from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, the four-day championship has showcased exceptional talent from across the state in both junior (15-16 years) and youth (17-18 years) categories.
🥊 Thrilling Semifinal Action
The semifinal bouts witnessed intense competition as young fighters delivered powerful performances inside the ring.
In the junior girls’ 42-44kg category, Isawanbiang Nongsiej of West Khasi Hills defeated Elizabeth Ngamlai of West Jaintia Hills, while Soyabanri Nongrang of Eastern West Khasi Hills edged past Elishiba Marwein of Ri-Bhoi in a split decision.
In the 44-46kg division, Anisha Kharbani dominated Pdianghun Kurbah of East Khasi Hills. Another highlight bout saw Baiamonlang Lyngdoh and Nebadari Rympei, both from Ri-Bhoi, engage in a fierce contest, with Rympei emerging victorious.
The 46-48kg category saw Evangeline Sohbar of Ri-Bhoi and Aishisha M Mawroh of Noble Art Boxing Club register wins against their respective opponents.
🥊 Junior Boys Deliver Power-Packed Bouts
The junior boys’ semifinals were equally intense. In the 42-44kg division, Arush Biswa of Noble Art Boxing Club and Shaniaki Shabong of East Khasi Hills advanced to the finals.
In the 44-46kg category, Pyndapkupar Marwein of Eastern West Khasi Hills and Damonlang Marbaniang of Green Heart Boxing Club secured their spots, while Freedy Marngar of East Khasi Hills and Karan Sunar of Ri-Bhoi progressed in the 46-48kg division.
In the higher weight categories, Ryan Lyngdoh and Iaimanbha J Nongrum claimed victories in the 50-52kg division, while Arkimanbha Rimen and Lewanki Pakma advanced in the 52-54kg category.
Alyn M Marak of West Garo Hills triumphed in the 54-57kg division, and Chepyrkhat H Mitri of Green Heart Boxing Club secured victory in the 57-60kg category.

The closing ceremony will be graced by Brightstarwell Marbaniang, who will attend as the chief guest and officially bring the curtains down on what has been a thrilling four-day sporting event.
