The MLA of Nongpoh, Bah Mayral Born Syiem, today visited and inspected the Umsaw Nongbri PHC (Primary Health Centre), which is still under construction, to ensure its speedy completion for the benefit of the people of the entire area in matters relating to health and healthcare.
It may be noted here that the Umsaw Nongbri PHC has only recently been upgraded from the Umsaw Nongbri Sub-Centre, after it was found necessary to upgrade the facility in order to provide better healthcare services to the people of the region.
During the inspection of the PHC, present along with the MLA were Dr. B. Lyngdoh, Joint Director (MI), Dr. N.M. Sangma, DMHO of Ri-Bhoi, officials from the Health Department, Paiem S. Syiem, Syiem of Raid Nongbri, Bah Mission Tron, headman of Umsaw Nongbri, Bah Repeal Mawphniang, headman of Kbet Nongbri, and other elders of the area.
The Umsaw Nongbri PHC, which is about 85% completed, has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹9.71 crore, and it is expected to be completed soon within the stipulated time, much to the anticipation of the public who have been waiting for better healthcare services. This PHC is also the largest in Ri-Bhoi, constructed in a spacious and scenic location, and includes around 18 units of staff quarters for healthcare workers.
