The North Eastern Hill University Non-Teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA) has strongly refuted the claims made by former Pro Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, Prof S Umdor, regarding achievements during his tenure, terming the statements as misleading and factually incorrect.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NEHUNSA said it was “shocked and dismayed” by the achievements claimed by the former Pro Vice-Chancellor, particularly the assertion that major tasks were accomplished by the August Office, including the promotion of non-teaching employees through the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
Clarifying the matter, NEHUNSA stated that no non-teaching employee has received any promotion till date, directly contradicting Prof Umdor’s claims. The association emphasized that promotions through DPC were one of the key agendas repeatedly raised with the university authorities, but remain unfulfilled.
The association also rejected claims related to the finalization of advertisements for recruitment of non-teaching staff. According to NEHUNSA, the previous recruitment advertisement has already lapsed and has not even been officially cancelled, let alone finalized for implementation.
“We wish to clarify that till date none of the non-teaching employees have got any promotion, which was one of our agendas brought forth to the office of the authority,” the association stated.
NEHUNSA further questioned how such claims were made without the association being informed or consulted, stating that it was never made aware of any finalized recruitment advertisement for non-teaching staff.
Expressing disappointment and concern, NEHUNSA said the misleading claims have compelled the association to place the facts before the general public to ensure transparency and accountability.
