NONGPOH : The Ri-Bhoi Peoples Council (RBPC) has said it will continue to oppose the Staff Nurse recruitment examination in Ri-Bhoi if candidates from outside the district are allowed to compete.
The council raised the issue during a meeting with Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Dr Abhishek Saini on Monday, where it submitted a memorandum seeking a separate provision for eligible candidates from Ri-Bhoi in the recruitment of Staff Nurses at MCH Ri-Bhoi.
The RBPC said a similar approach has been followed in recruitment processes in other districts and argued that candidates from Ri-Bhoi should also be given a specific opportunity in the recruitment.
RBPC president Jason Lennox Nongrum said as many as 192 candidates from Ri-Bhoi are eligible for the recruitment.
He stated that the council would continue its opposition if candidates from outside Ri-Bhoi are permitted to participate in the examination.
The council also stressed that the recruitment process should be conducted in a manner that is transparent, fair and impartial, while maintaining clarity over the eligibility criteria and selection process.
The RBPC has urged the authorities to consider its demand before proceeding with the Staff Nurse recruitment examination.
