Shillong: Meghalaya Football Association’s 5th Meghalaya State League semifinal lineup has been confirmed after Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC and Langsning FC sealed qualification from Group B following the final quarterfinal league stage matches played at SSA Stadium on Tuesday.
Group A winners Nongkseh SSCC and runners-up Shillong Lajong FC had already secured their semifinal spots earlier.
Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC booked their second consecutive Meghalaya State League semifinal berth in style after defeating Nangkiew Irat SC 5-2 in a thrilling encounter.
Although a draw was enough for qualification, the East Jaintia Hills side produced a dominant second-half performance with all seven goals coming after the break. Iaishah Bareh opened the scoring in the 56th minute before Nangkiew equalised immediately through Brolington Warlarpih in the 58th minute.
Hesmiki Rymbai restored the lead in the 69th minute with a powerful finish before Niponghi Sumer extended the advantage with a superb free-kick in the 77th minute. Justerwell Tham pulled one back for Nangkiew in the 81st minute to keep hopes alive, but Shkenshynriah finished strongly with two stoppage-time goals from Hesmiki Rymbai and Harita Suchen.
The victory helped Rymbai Shkenshynriah finish with 12 points, while Nangkiew Irat ended third in the group with 9 points.
In the earlier fixture, Langsning FC confirmed top spot in Group B with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Maram FC.
Donlad Diengdoh scored just before halftime in the 41st minute, while Nelson Rymbai doubled the lead shortly after the restart in the 48th minute.
Langsning advanced to the semifinals with five wins and one defeat, collecting 15 points — the highest tally recorded in either quarterfinal group of the tournament.
Despite suffering six defeats, Maram FC are expected to take valuable experience from their campaign as they prepare to defend their Tura Super Division title.
The semifinals will be held at SSA Stadium at 6PM on their respective matchdays. Nongkseh SSCC will take on Rymbai Shkenshynriah on 29 May, while Langsning FC will face Shillong Lajong FC on 30 May. The final of the Meghalaya State League 2026 is scheduled for 4 June.
