The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority has organised the National Lok Adalat on the 10th July, 2021 in all the districts of the State of Meghalaya, except West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the Patronage of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Biswanath Somadder, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and under the supervision of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. V. More, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya, and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
In the National Lok Adalat, 319 Pre-Litigation cases and 345 pending cases were taken up for settlement. Total number of cases taken up were 664 and of which 133 cases and an amount of rs 40,49,334.3/- (Rupees Forty lakhs forty nine thousand three hundred and thirty four and three paise) only was settled in the National Lok Adalat.
