SHILLONG : One person was killed and two others injured in a suspected triple stabbing incident in East Khasi Hills on Sunday night, with police investigating the circumstances and possible motive behind the attack.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said one injured man was found near the BSF Battalion gate at around 10:30 pm. He was immediately shifted to NEIGRIHMS for medical treatment.
Later, police found the body of another man with multiple stab wounds at Mawkasiang. A third injured person was subsequently found at Mawtawar.
The deceased has been identified as Shanbor Rani, who, according to police, had previous cases registered against him relating to murder and offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said preliminary information suggests that all three individuals may have been together before the incident.
“We are investigating the motive. It could be drug-related or a vendetta,” SP Vivek Syiem said.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the motive behind the suspected stabbing incident.
