The indefinite strike by Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers in Meghalaya has been called off after the state government cleared their pending incentives, Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla informed that the government has released long-pending payments to more than 7,000 ASHA workers across the state.
“We have already cleared the pending incentives for ASHA workers,” the Health Minister said.
He confirmed that following the disbursement of incentives, the ASHA workers have withdrawn their protest.
“As per my knowledge, the ASHA workers have already called off their indefinite strike,” he added.
The minister, however, pointed out that certain issues still remain unresolved, though these are not related to the Health Department.
“There are some issues pending, not from the department but from their side. They do realise that, and that is why they have called off the strike,” Shylla said.
The strike had raised concerns over the delivery of grassroots healthcare services, particularly in rural and remote areas of the state.
