WILLIAMNAGAR : Balmanduri FC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Attong Matgrik FC 7-1 in a Group G encounter of the 5th Meghalaya State League in Williamnagar on Wednesday.
The match was the only fixture of the day, with teams in other groups on a short break before the league resumes on Friday. Group G features five teams, allowing for a tighter match schedule compared to other groups.
After suffering a defeat in their opening match on April 18, the North Garo Hills side bounced back in style with an emphatic victory.
Balmanduri FC dominated the first half, scoring four goals through Goodnear Marak in the 21st minute, Jurisbirth Marak in the 30th, Ganapati Rabha in the 41st, and captain Chichang M Momin just before halftime in the 45th minute.
The momentum continued in the second half as substitutes made an immediate impact. Nilaybhumi Rabha scored in the 70th minute, followed by Dipunjay Rabha in the 75th, while Jurisbirth Marak completed his brace in the 81st minute to extend the lead to 7-0.
Attong Matgrik FC managed a late consolation goal through Sunil M Marak in the 85th minute, marking their first goal of the season after two previous scoreless defeats. Despite the effort, they remain at the bottom of Group G standings.
The action in Group G will continue on Thursday, with A’chik SCO Rongjeng set to face Janepih YSCA at 3 PM.
