SHILLONG, JAN 19: Meghalaya has won three prestigious national awards at the 6th Digital Transformation Summit & Awards held in New Delhi, recognising the state’s excellence in digital governance, geospatial technology, and public service delivery.
The awards underline Meghalaya’s growing reputation as a technology-driven state under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. The achievements reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive, data-driven governance across urban development, citizen services, and public health, according to a statement issued by the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department on Monday.
Under the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department, Meghalaya ONE was recognised in the category “Innovative Use of Digital Technology in Enhancing Public Service Delivery.”
Meghalaya ONE is a unified digital platform that allows citizens to access government schemes, services, and grievance redressal through a single interface. The platform is accessible via web services, physical service centres, and village data volunteers, ensuring last-mile digital connectivity across the state.
The Meghalaya State GIS and UAV Centre, operating under the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) and the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department, received the award in the category “Excellence in Use of Geospatial Technologies for Transportation, Urban Development, and Other Projects.”
The centre was honoured for its flagship platform, the Meghalaya State Geo Portal (Meghalaya State GeoHub). Powered by AI-based analytics, the portal provides critical data for real-time decision-making. It helps track deforestation, weather forecasting, and water budgeting, strengthening evidence-based governance and sustainable planning.
The National Health Mission (NHM), Health Department, Government of Meghalaya, received the award in the category “Innovative Digital Health Services and Public Health Data Analytics.”
NHM was recognised for its pioneering digital initiative, the MOTHER app, which has significantly improved maternal and child healthcare services. Between 2020 and 2025, Meghalaya recorded nearly a 60 percent reduction in maternal deaths and a 34 percent decline in the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), highlighting how real-time health data can enhance accountability and service delivery.
The award ceremony was organised by Governance Now, a leading publication focused on public policy and governance.
