SHILLONG : Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School Principal Amit Thapa has expressed immense joy after the institution achieved a historic milestone by topping the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2026.Reacting to the achievement, Thapa said he was overwhelmed with emotion. “I am still lost for words. It is truly a victory day for the Gorkha Pathshala family,” he said.He highlighted that this is the first time a student from the school has secured the top position in the SSLC board examinations, adding that two other students from the institution also secured 7th and 8th ranks.Thapa credited the success to the collective efforts of teachers and students. “It is the joint effort of our dedicated teachers and devoted students. Everyone has contributed, and that is what has brought this result,” he stated.Expressing pride in the institution, he said the school has always believed in its strength. “I have never felt that our school was second to any other. We have a committed team of teachers who have always worked hard,” he added.The achievement comes at a special time as the school celebrates its 150th year. Thapa described the success as a “gift” for this milestone year.“I couldn’t have asked for a better gift from our students in this historic year,” he said.He further expressed hope that the success will inspire future batches. “I believe this will motivate our students. We feel that we are second to none,” Thapa added, describing his joy as being “on top of the world.”
