SHILLONG : Three Manipuri organizations based in Shillong organized a candlelight vigil to express solidarity and sympathy with the families affected by a recent tragic incident.
The vigil, held on Sunday, was a mark of unity and compassion for those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate event.
Speaking at the gathering, the General Secretary of the Shillong Manipuri Students’ Union (SMSU), Lamyanba, emphasized that the programme was not about politics, but about humanity and respect for the lives lost.
“This gathering is not about politics, but about humanity and showing respect to the lives that have been lost,” he said.
He also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, including two children, and urged the public to remain calm and choose peace over conflict.
Various organizations present at the vigil called upon the government to take immediate steps to restore peace in the state and ensure that such tragic incidents do not recur in the future.
The event reflected a strong message of unity, peace, and collective responsibility during a time of grief.
